On November 4, 2021, on the initiative of the Director of the Institute of Arts, Culture and Sport Kozhagulov T.M. and with the participation of the Commissioner for ethics and prevention of corruption risks Nurgisaev S.U., the Head of the Centre «Parasat» Usipov K.T. and Assistant Rector for the regime Taubayev A. met with the teaching staff of the Department of Physical Culture and Sport. The need for such a meeting is dictated by the facts of the exclusion of students of the Department for the admitted debts of payment for study (a significant amount), as well as the circumstances, which deserve attention in terms of prevention of possible corruption manifestations from the students.
The meeting was chaired by the director of the Institute T.M. Kozhagulov, he said that the University established a commission to investigate the facts of giving money to transfer students from tuition fees to grants. S.U. Nurgisaev noted the main problematic issues of combating corruption in higher education and that in our university activities aimed at compliance with the principles of academic integrity and anti-corruption are carried out in accordance with the Law of RK «On Countering Corruption». He also explained what preventive measures, repressive measures, new institutions of corruption prevention, typical corruption risks, etc. are in place. Teachers were explained the main signs of corruption and methods of combating it, where culture, work ethics, education and integrity play a major role.
However, despite the implemented measures, the monitoring of social networks and chat rooms of students showed that potential corruption facts still exist, the level and frequency of complaints and appeals are not reduced. It was reported that during the inspection of applications and complaints, as a result of non-compliance with the requirements of the international standard ISO 37001-2016 and the University Ethics Rules, the Head of the Military Department R.O. Rakyshev and two senior lecturers of the Institute of Pedagogy and Psychology were dismissed. K.T. Usipov emphasized the importance of compliance with the requirements of the anti-corruption management system - international standard ISO 37001-2016 implemented in the university, which has been implemented during the last year. He noted the issues of proper organization of activities to build anti-corruption culture, internal and external monitoring, control over compliance with anti-corruption standards. The meeting was held at a high organisational level and with the active participation of the teachers themselves, especially the younger generation, who asked interested questions.
