On March 27, a meeting was held at Abai University with students of the Sorbonne-Kazakhstan Institute and the leadership and staff of the Department of Economic Investigations for the Almaty Region of the Agency of the Republic of Kazakhstan for Financial Monitoring. The event was organized jointly with the University’s Anti-Corruption Compliance Service.
During the meeting, the Head of the Administrative Department of the Department of Economic Investigations for the Almaty Region, Serikzhan Buribayev, and the Senior Operative Officer for особо important cases of the Organizational and Control Department, Meruert Yerkinqyzy, delivered speeches. They emphasized the importance of the event and broadly addressed issues related to choosing a career in the financial monitoring authorities, combating fraud, and ensuring public safety.
The speakers paid special attention to the role of future lawyers and IT specialists, highlighting their importance in strengthening the rule of law and ensuring the safety of citizens.
Representatives of the Financial Monitoring Department provided comprehensive information about the requirements for job candidates, as well as the social guarantees and benefits of working in this field. In addition, modern types of fraud were discussed, including the use of artificial intelligence, deepfakes on social networks, and methods of information distortion (distinguishing between original and false versions).
At the end of the meeting, students were given recommendations on preventing fraudulent activities, improving digital literacy, and observing safety measures.
