Abai University Students Triumph at the «Uyat pa? Zan ba?» Debate Tournament

On April 9, 2026, the Kazakh National Women`s Teacher Training University hosted a city-wide debate tournament among Almaty`s higher education institutions titled «Uyat pa? Zan ba?» (Shame or Law?). The event, organized by the Compliance Service and the Department of Personality Development, focused on discussing the correlation between informal codes of conduct and official legal requirements, as well as raising the legal awareness of youth amidst prevailing traditional social stereotypes.
Students from the «6B04202 – Jurisprudence» educational program at Abai University participated in the intellectual competition, demonstrating a high level of preparation and critical thinking skills.
Second and third-year Jurisprudence students from the Faculty of History and Law at Abai University have once again demonstrated their profound knowledge and high level of professional excellence. In a rigorous intellectual competition, they contended with formidable teams from leading higher education institutions, including Satbayev University, the International Transport and Humanitarian University, NARXOZ University, Asfendiyarov Kazakh National Medical University, and the Kazakh National Women`s Teacher Training University, securing a well-deserved victory among the top participants.
According to the results of the competition, our students secured the following prizes:
• 1st Place: «Sunkar» team — Danial Kemelbek and Ramazan Tileuzhan;
• 3rd Place: «Legal Trust» team — Indira Yupiterova and Karina Shapovalova.
Scientific Supervisors: Gulzhazira B. Meirbekova, Associate Professor of the Department of Jurisprudence; Elmira P. Kenzhibekova, Candidate of Legal Sciences, Associate Professor of the Department of Jurisprudence.
During the tournament, students articulated their positions freely and persuasively, advocating for the principles of the rule of law in a modern state. This victory is a clear testament to the professional competence of future lawyers and the strengthening of intellectual ties between universities.
